Welcome to the United States in World War Two Wiki


December 7th, 1941. The United States entered a conflict that would turn out to be the largest conflict in human history. Spanning the globe, hundreds of millions of lives would be lost. Over a course of 6 long and hard years. This is an adventure to know and understand how and why this conflict occurred, and to appreciate the sacrifices those people gave before us.

My name is Max Lilly, I will be leading you through this unit on the United States involvement in the Second World War. We will be discussing various topics that pertain directly to the United States as well as other countries who were involved in the war. We will be using this wiki as like our home base, will we discuss topics, do activities, and have projects in this course, but this will be our launching point. Almost anything you need to start off will be located in this wiki.

In this unit we will focus on four key points about the United States involvement in the 2nd World War:

  1. How did we end up in War?
  2. Battles and Campaigns fought by the United States.
  3. The big picture, how did our involvement fit into the global scale of the conflict?
  4. Home life, civilian life during the conflict.

Learning Objectives for the Unit:
1. Students will learn how the United States became involved in the Second World War.
2. Students will be able to recognize different campaigns and areas of conflict during the war.
3. Students will be able to understand how the United States won the war.
4. Students will understand the ramifications of our economic policies before, during, and after the war.
